Continuation of Donation of Glucometers

Kenya Fluorspar Company donated another 15 glucometers and blood sugar test strips on 12th August 2014 to 15 members of the Community surrounding the mine. This brings the number of the test kits donated to a total of 40 pieces between 2012 and 2014.

Kenya Fluorspar Company Managing Director presented the kits to the diabetic members of the Community after the medical staff had taken them through an education process on the disease, treatment thereof and the recommendation of a diet to control this particular medical condition.

Those who benefitted ranged from the age of 16 to 75 years of age. This is part of the Company initiatives in assisting the community members who are unable to meet the medical costs in the treatment of this disease.

A number of these cases have surfaced as a result of current diabetic patients spreading the word and creating an awareness within their communities as well as from the medical outreach program to remote communities as conducted by the Company.
