Isaac Kibiwott Chelal
January 5 2016
Isaac an 18 year old male student from Kapkono and studying at Kimwarer Secondary School was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2009. He was then operated and again operated in 2014. In October 2015 the doctors realized a recurrence of the tumor and referred him to Cancer Care Centre MP Shah Hospital Nairobi for specialized treatment.
Coming from a very humble background and parents struggling to fend for their siblings, the family could not afford the cost of treatment that amounted to a total of over Ksh. 420,000/= ( Four Hundred and twenty thousand) being medical, travel, food and accommodation costs for patient and a care giver for a period of 6 weeks.
The family approached the company for assistance and this was acceded to in the spirit of caring for its needy neighbors and in line with the Company social responsibility priorities. The Company therefore fully funded his treatment in Nairobi.
The boy successfully completed the radiotherapy treatment on 5th January 2016 and came home stronger with great improvement on his health. He is equally very optimistic of full recovery and eventual resumption of his studies which was suspended due to poor health in the mid of his KCSE exams 2015.
The Company is encouraged of the positive development on his health and wish him well.
