Security Training for Employees and Community
April 15 2014
In its efforts to improve the efficiency of the Security team in the discharge of their responsibilities, the Company arranged for a Security staff training course between 1st and 15th April 2014. The training was conducted by the Private Security Training Academy (PSTA), an institution based in Nairobi that specializes in security training.
The training targeted 70 Company security staff as well as 20 youth selected from the neighboring communities. The purpose of training the youth from the communities was to prepare them for job opportunities within and outside the Company. Upon finishing the course on 15th April 2014, the Company offered contracts to the best 4 youths from the Community. This gesture can be seen as a reward for outstanding performance achieved as well as a goodwill gesture towards the communities.
Private Security Training Academy (PSTA) through its Chairman, Mr John Kipkorir, offered to employ the remaining trained 16 youth from the community. To date seven have joined PSTA and through this initiative we have been able to equip some community members with a skill thus creating a work opportunity for them.
The Company Managing Director Mr. Nico Spangenberg and PSTA Chairman Mr. Kipkorir graced the closing function. The Managing Director implored upon the graduates to maintain the high standards the training had imparted on them noting that security is a critical factor in any business or society.
The total cost of this exercise amounted to USD 8,000 which covered training, accommodation and food for the trainees and the trainers.
