Water Treatment System
June 2015
The Company contracted Oserian Development Company to install a water purification system.
The river water passes through a coagulation process where a substantial amount of dirt and other solid particles suspended in water is removed. Aluminium Sulphate, which attracts the dirt particles, is added to the water at the first stage. The heavier dirt particles then sink to the bottom of the clarifying tank during sedimentation.
The clear water then moves through a pipe to a filtration process where water passes through some filters consisting of layers of different grades of sand and gravel that helps remove even finer particles.
A small dosage of chlorine is also added at this stage to kill any bacteria or microorganism that may be present. The treated water is then drained into a closed tank where disinfection takes place before flowing through the pipe network to residential areas for domestic use.
