Charles Field-Marsham

Chairman
Charles acquired the Company end 1996 from the Government of Kenya. He serves on the Boards of numerous other companies in Kenya inter alia Kenol/Kobil Petroleum, Pan African Trucks and Equipment etc. Charles also has investments in several other companies in East Africa. Charles worked previously in the Corporate Finance Department of Credit Suisse First Boston, an international investment bank, in New York and London. He holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from McGill University.

Michael Fredrick Odera

Vice Chairman
Mr. Odera joined the Board of KFC in November 2013 being appointed as Vice Chairman of the Company. He holds a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Nairobi as well as an MBA degree from the Thunderbird Graduate School of Business in Arizona USA.

Michael worked with the Magadi Soda Company Ltd, now Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd for 34 years. The last 4 years he worked as Managing Director of Tata Chemicals Magadi and retired in 2013. During this period he oversaw the successful transitioning of Magadi Soda Co Ltd to Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd.

Currently Michael serves as a Director on the Boards of Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd as well as Tata Chemicals (South Africa) Pty. He is also Chairman of The Magadi Soda Foundation. He also serves as a Trustee on the Board of the Chandaria School of Business at the USIU.

Chris D. Groom

Non-Executive Director
Chris was the Finance Director of Bamburi Cement for 15 years before becoming Managing Director in 1995 and retired June 2000. Since then he has been working as a Consultant. He currently also serves on the Boards of East African Portland Cement (EAPC), Income Tax Appeals Committee and the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

Raphael M. Thyaka

Non-Executive Director
Raphael spent 28 years of his working life at Bamburi Cement from 1977 to 2005 of which the last 10 years was as Director. From 2002 to his retirement he was Deputy Managing Director and he currently serves on the Boards of Athi River Mining and Lafarge Ecosystems Ltd (a subsidiary of Bamburi Cement. Raphael holds a BA degree in Management and Administration from the University of Dar-Es-Salaam in Tanzania and Diploma in Marketing from Insead in France. He joined the Board of KFC in 2006.

Nicolaas Spangenberg

Managing Director
He joined Fluorspar in Sep 2004 as Chief Financial Officer and was promoted to current position in Jan 2008.

He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and has extensive mining management experience having worked for De Beers in South Africa for 17 years and for the Grinaker Group in West Africa for 2 years.

Hennie Coetzee

Finance and Administration Manager
He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Industrial and Management Accounting obtained from the North-West University of South Africa.

He gained vast experience in the mining industry having worked for PPC Cement Company Limited in their cement and lime divisions for 12 years and 3 years for the Grinaker Group in West Africa.

He joined Fluorspar in August 2012.

Pablo Dyre

Head of Sales and Marketing
He studied Geophysics and Mineralogy in the United Kingdom with postgraduate studies in Belgium. Pursued work interests in ultramafic mineralisation in Zambia, Zimbabwe and in Kenya.

He is a Fellow (1991) and Diamond Fellow (2002) of the Gemmological Association and Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain. He has also been a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2002.

He has worked in the construction sector where, and successfully ran a quarry producing aggregate for road construction firms and the Ministry of Public Works. He is tasked with logistical and port operations, shipping, sales and new business development.

Kibor Some Samoei

Laboratory Manager
He holds a BSc degree majoring in chemistry from Moi University as well as a diploma in analytical chemistry.

He has been employed at Fluorspar since 1989 and has progressed through the levels to be Manager of the laboratory. He was instrumental in upgrading the laboratory to adopt ASTM E 1509 - 1997 methodology and is an active member of the Chemical and Physics societies of Kenya.

Subrata Chakraborty (Chaku)

Plant Process Manager
He graduated in metallurgical engineering ( First class Honours) from National Institute Technology , Durgapur and post graduated in mineral engineering from Indian School of Mines in 1988.

He joined Hindustan Zinc Limited, (taken over by Vedanta Resources Plc , England in 2002) , a company with a turnover of USD 2.0 billion . He worked as Senior Process Manager and has vast experience in designing and operation of process plants.

He joined Fluorspar in 2005 and has been instrumental in increasing the recovery and quality leading to increased volumes.

Christopher Cheruiyot

Chief Geologist
He joined Fluorspar in 1996 as a trainee geologist and attained the current rank after years of service.

He has good experience of the mining process and an in depth knowledge of the ore bodies and their grades. Acts as Mining Manager during the absence of this person. Also in charge of survey thus responsible for the mine planning and mapping of ore reserves.

Thangaveu Kumaravel (Kumar)

Plant Maintenance Manager
He holds a bachelor of Engineering degree from PSG College of technology, Bharathiar University, India.

He attended maintenance and operational training programs in Finland. He also worked for Hindustan Zinc Limited for 14 years as Manager Maintenance handling all aspects of equipment maintenance including power generation units. He obtained valuable experience as he was involved in numerous projects aimed at power savings and increasing production.

He joined Fluorspar in October 2005 and is responsible for all plant maintenance including electricity and instrumentation resulting in a plant availability of at least 95%.

Sakkie van Jaarsveld

Mobile Equipment Manager
He worked as plant manager in large opencast mines in South Africa. He worked for Grinaker Construction as senior Plant manager, controlling and maintaining opencast and underground mining equipment as well as all equipment on Civil, Construction, Building and Crushing sites in Africa. His last assignment was as Mobile Equipment Plant manager for MCC mining in TETE , Mozambique.

He joined Kenya Fluorspar in Feb 2012.

Borries Bornman

Mine Manager
He has a Bsc Degree in Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Land Surveying with good Mine Management background of 22 years in Production; Plant, Volumes and Geophysical Airborne Survey.

He has extensive experience in Selective Mining eg. "Gold" Hydro Terminal Deposits; "Diamonds" Kimberlitic Pipes and "Coal" He was Technical Manager West Africa; Project Manager Central Region for Fugro Airbone Surveys and Technical Manager Eqstra Mozambique.

He joined Kenya Fluorspar in May 2011.

Paul Ouma Onana

Environment, Health and Safety Officer
He holds a Bsc. in Environmental Science from Egerton University and an Msc. in Occupational Safety and Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He is a registered environment Impact Assessor and Audit lead expert by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

Joined Kenya Fluorspar Company in May 2011, having worked as a consultant at Universal Work Health and Safety Consultancy Ltd, Nakuru.

Charles Korir

Human Resource Manager
He is responsible for the human resources function, public relations and community matters. He holds a MA degree (Public Administration) from Punjabi University Patiala (India) and a diploma in Personnel Management (British institute). He has 13 years of experience in Human Resource Management. He joined the Company in July 2008.
